Your Own Little World

Mark 8:36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Most men are realistic enough that they do not seek the whole world. But they lose their souls for far smaller things, their own tiny little worlds. When they try to keep their measly little lives for themselves they lose their souls just as surely as those with the grandiose plans of gaining the whole world. There are billions of foolish individuals who live their lives totally for self and lose their own souls.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Hebrews 12:15: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Esau sold his soul for just one meal. Adam and Eve sold their innocent relationship with God for one bite of forbidden fruit. There is nothing you and I can ever acquire that will match the wondrous results of giving our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is amazing what worthless little things can keep individuals from that most valuable thing, being saved and on their way to Heaven. Our poor little lives are nothing without Him and they are nothing when compared with the eternal life that Jesus wants to give us.

Philippians 3:8: Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Your own little world is nothing until you give it to the Lord and it revolves around Him.
